Bayern Munich's Harry Kane is moving forward to surpass his predecessor Robert Lewandowski's record.
Munich has been unable to find a reliable striker since Roberto Lewandowski moved to FC Barcelona last summer. Sadio Mane was brought in from Liverpool, but Mane only scored 12 goals and 6 assists in 38 official games last season. Mane moved to Saudi Arabia's Al Nasr last summer.
Munich was looking for a new striker in the summer transfer market. Munich's choice was Kane. Kane was the top scorer in the EPL three times and was the highest scorer (280 goals) in Tottenham club history. In the EPL, he ranked second in the league for most goals (213 goals), following Alan Shearer, who scored 260 goals.
Munich succeeded in recruiting Kane by taking advantage of the fact that Tottenham ranked 8th in the league last season and failed to advance to European club competitions. Munich invested 95 million euros (about 134.4 billion won) to sign Kane. This was the highest transfer fee in the club's history.
Kane is also proving his class in the German 밤의제국 Bundesliga. He is currently the top scorer in the Bundesliga with 17 goals in 11 games. Kane became the first player to score 17 goals in his first 11 games since entering the Bundesliga. His previous record was 16 goals in 11 games by Robert Lewandowski (then of read more Munich) in the 2019/20 season.
If you look closely at Kane's scoring record, it is even more surprising. He has scored in all but two games in the Bundesliga this season. The hat trick has already been achieved three times. The only games in which Kane did not score were the 3rd round match against Mönchengladbach and the 7th round match against Freiburg. He also scored multiple goals in the 11th round of the Bundesliga against Heidenheim on the 11th.
Kane has already surpassed the record of the player who was the top scorer in the 2022/23 season. Last season's Bundesliga top scorers were Niklas Führkruk and Christoph Nkunku with 16 goals. Kane, who is leading the score, is now looking higher. This is Lewandowski's new record, which seemed impossible to beat.
Before Kane, Lewandowski was a striker representing the Bundesliga. He was at his peak in Munich, scoring 41 goals in 29 Bundesliga games in the 2020/21 season. This was the highest score in a single season since the Bundesliga was launched in 1963.
In the season in which Lewandowski rewrote Bundesliga history, Munich dominated the Bundesliga. For Kane, who is desperate for a championship trophy, this could be news worth pinning his hopes on. Kane never won a championship during his time at Tottenham. The decisive reason for moving to Munich was to win the trophy.
Kane, who scored 17 goals in the league, now needs to score 25 more to rewrite Bundesliga history. There are still 23 games left. If Kane does not suffer a long-term injury and maintains his current scoring pace, it is a record that we can aim for.
